Our Story

Built by Clinicians Who Get It

Axene CE was founded by an ER physician who saw firsthand how broken EMS continuing education was. Dr. Axene decided to build something better.

Mission

Why We Started Axene CE

In the middle of a global shutdown, overworked first responders were being forced out of their training centers. Dr. Erik Axene refused to compromise his engaging teaching style, so he decided to record his EMS CE lectures for his fire departments in a whole new way. It would have been easy to distribute a slide deck, but Dr. Axene knew that he needed to do more to engage his students. Armed with medical expertise, a ring light, and an iPhone, he filmed his first lecture (on fast heart rhythms) with an electrophysiologist. Dr. Axene got permission to film in a Lamborghini showroom in Dallas, surrounded by some of the world’s highest-revving sports cars. What began as a passion for teaching and a creative COVID workaround became a game-changer.

Today, Axene CE delivers EMS continuing education unlike anything in the industry that meets the unique learning needs of first responders to improve patient care. Knowing that these heroes live with fatigue, stress, time pressure, and constant risk, our courses activate the learner’s sensory system. Axene CE students don’t just memorize — they understand and retain. And when they remember, they use the information in the back of the ambulance, and patient care is improved.

More importantly, Axene CE recognizes that the health of the provider matters as much as the health of the patient. We are committed not only to raising clinical proficiency but also to supporting the physical, mental, and emotional wellness of first responders. We teach physiology, but we also teach resilience — sleep science, recovery, nutrition, fitness, stress regulation, and self-care strategies designed to protect the people who protect us. When a first responder understands the human machine (both their patients and their own), decisions become clearer, safer, faster, and more accurate. Confidence rises. Stress decreases. The vicious cycle becomes virtuous. Axene CE stands to honor the heroes who respond first and carry the weight of our nation’s emergencies. We are here to elevate their knowledge, protect their wellness, and amplify their impact in a healthcare system that depends on them.
